Bloomsburg Fair Entries
Today Mike took the day off and we went to the Bloomsburg Fair. It wasn’t the best weather day but we had to see how our entries did in the state fair. I entered an embroidery project and 3 sewing projects, one was a quilt.. my first quilt! We also entered a picture Autumn took at the tea party on August 29th. It was a great picture for a 3 year old!
Anyway, here are the entries.
These two got 1st Award..
I’ve always wanted to complete a quilt. I have several I’m currently working on but this is the first one that I have completed from start to finish. I still can’t believe it got a second AND for my FIRST ever completed quilt!! Awesome!! The pattern and instructions for this quilt can be found at YouCanQuiltThis.com
The instructions are very easy to follow and there are other helpful links on the YouCanQuiltThis.com website.
Oh I can’t wait to get it home this weekend. You know, Halloween is just around the corner so I’ll have to put it on the table with other Halloween decorations! That is if the girls will leave it on the table. While I was making it they only wanted to play with the spiders.
I know it LOOKS like this got a 1st Award and I thought so when I first saw but it didn’t get any ribbon. I’m not sure which projects it was up against, but I THINK the coasters got the 1st AWARD and the book got 2nd with the knitting project with a 3rd. Just not sure because each of those types of items have their own classes.
Anyhow, this is an English Paper Piecing project. Everything is handsewn together. Perhaps if there was a class offered for that I would have gotten something. Oh well I was very happy with the way everything turned out and I’m sure the person who gets it for a Christmas gift will LOVE IT.. at least I hope so.
Autumn’s entry was a picture she took at a tea party. I wish she would have gotten a ribbon for her picture but they didn’t have a class for toddlers. I’m planning on making a ribbon for her because for a 3 yeard old it’s an AWESOME picture of something that had meaning for Autumn. She loves her carmel corn and the HOT PINK frame. She picked it out.
Baby gifts a hit at baby shower!
The baby gifts I sent last week were a hit at the shower… take a look.
Stay at home Sunday…
Today we stayed at home.. for the most part..
Breakfast by daddy, bacon, eggs, english muffins, juice, milk and coffee… YUMM.. Lunch by mommy, leftovers from dinner last night… MMMM mmmm mmmm… Dinner… well… that was by Poppa John… and was tasty!!! Dessert was yummy too… that was by gram… peach cobler!!!
While at gram’s I looked at ads and planned what “school” supplies we needed for the girls…
I also made another patch for the order… I’m going to try to get 2 or 3 more done tonight and the rest done by Friday and everything out in the mail either Friday afternoon or Saturday.
It’s barely hanging on in the embroidery frame..
It’s almost 9pm and the girls are still getting out of bed… argh… and the whole house smells like Flocks… our neighbors might have some but they would have to have 100’s to get the smell we are getting… they are like 200 yards away… must be some between us somewhere…
More patches…
Well I cleaned my machine and took a couple pictures to share with my embroidery group.. had a couple questions on embroidery arm positions… I just had to share because I love my new camera still..
Here are some more test patches.. now to make 20 real patches.. I think I got all the kinks worked out.
Patches..
Here are my first two tries at embroidering custom patches… turned out okay… but I need to clip closer when doing the outer circle or find a different way…
These are test patches…
