Knoebels!!! The Flume Ride!!!

DON’T FORGET..

FIRST FRIDAY FABRIC BAG GIVE-AWAY!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the past several years we have been going to Knoebels with Mike’s parents. Mike’s dad is a retiree from Jersey Shore Steel and every summer they host a family day at Knoebels. They serve lunch and give employees and retirees tickets to the amusement park.
Last year was the first year the girls went on any rides. This year Haley has discovered she LOVES roller coaster so it should be fun. :)
The morning started off with the usual drive by the power plant.
I don’t think I could live close to this place.. just too scary the “what if’s”.. I don’t even like driving by it but it cuts out 1/2 hour from the drive..
Well an hour or so after leaving the house we reach the main sign for Knoebels..
Knoebels is a family amusement park with rides for both kiddies and adults. The Phoenix, The Flume and The Twister to name a few are some excellent rides for the thrill seekers.
The park is nestled in the woods.. for the most part the park is pretty shady! They also have camping, cottages and water park with slides, pools and fun for all!
Haley was so excited to get on the rides she ate lunch in a flash and then spent the next 30 minutes asking us if the park was open because she wanted to get on the rides!
The first ride for the day.. ALWAYS the Grand Carousel!
One day all too soon I know she will want to be on the outside stationary horse..
you know..
that horse that you ride on so you can grab the rings.. the one you have to hang on for life and lean out to grab rings.
My shoulder still hurts.
But for now.. she rides with daddy on one of the middle horses and loves it! Well except for the loud music.. maybe next year we will remember the ear plugs.
After the Grand Carousel it was ice cream time!
Didn’t get pictures because it was hot and everything was melting and getting sticky.
Off to the Kiddie Boat Ride.. Autumn didn’t want to get on it at first but she finally decided at the last SECOND that she wanted on.. :)
Autumn is not much into riding on the rides.. she wants to play the games..
Haley decided to ride on the Spanish Bambini next.. It’s a pretty fast kiddie ride but the kids seem to like it.
More games and the time for a quick break to watch the magic/dog show.
Autumn won a paddle pad thingie and Haley won a whistle.. oh joy!
The dog/magic show was fun and the shade was even better!
That’s Mike’s dad in the cowboy hat.. and YES he wears a cowboy hat whenever he can! Very easy to see in a crowd.
When the show was over the girls just HAD to try out the water spout thing and the backhoe thing.. it was really cute and the girls LOVED it!
The Supershovel
Next “ride”… jumpy house “Space Walk” of course!
I think Autumn enjoys the jumpy house more than Haley.
Haley decided she was Goin’ Buggy!
Autumn waiting for mommy, daddy and Haley..
Last ride of the day…
The Flume!!!!
Here we are waiting in line for the Flume.
While waiting Haley gets a kiss.. :)
When we got closer to getting in the log Haley says..
“Mommy this isn’t the ride.. I wanted the wet ride so we could go SPLOOSH!!!”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Quick click of the camera on the way up to the top..
Sorry for chopping your head off daddy!
Haley won that little RED raccoon and he HAD to go on the ride with us.
The first little splash, through the tunnel Haley laughing the entire time!
Wee.. seconds before I get soaked from leaks from up above..
 Here is the much awaited Flume picture!
August 8, 2010 – Haley’s first time on the Flume
She was laughing as we got splashed and reached the bottom.. then she said “Hey those rocks are wet!” Which made Mike and I laugh.
Immediately at the end of the ride as we were getting out she says..
“I wanna go again!”
Sooooo..
we went again!
Immediately after the 2nd ride.. she wanted to go again!!!
We said next time we will go more.. :)
Haley will need an all day pass for the rides and Autumn will need more tickets and money for all the games.
All in all we had a GREAT time!
Dentist Visit Yesterday
The girls went for their first REAL dental cleaning yesterday.. I was concerned because Autumn kept referring to the dental office as the “bad doctor” because of the visits prior to this.. she and Haley at the tender age of 3 1/2 years had to have many many fillings.. so they were not happy with those two visits..
Anyway, the morning started off HUMID.. YUCK.. could barely see the hills as we drove down the road for our 1 1/2 hr drive to the Pediatric Dental Care office in State College.
On the way the girls watched a movie and we got a chance to chat. :) It’s so funny to listen to them watch a movie sometimes because Haley will laugh at some parts and Autumn won’t and Autumn will laugh and Haley won’t.
At one point we were talking about how he thought the day would go at work since he wasn’t there and then we saw this truck..
Mike said ”Lemco Company Tools..Where you should be!.. Yea I SHOULD be there but I’m on Vacation today.. HAHA..”
I said it should be ”Where SHOULD you be??”
We saw other things I wanted to take pictures of but I forgot to charge my battery so didn’t get many pictures.
We got to the office around 7:45AM and there were lots of kids their age waiting to be seen. Most of the kids were playing in the playhouse and Autumn kept announcing this is my new friend and Hi my name is Autumn and her name (point to sister) is Haley. :) The girls went from the playhouse to the video games to looking at books and play with various toys in the waiting room. Mommy and daddy just waited for them to be called and tried to stay awake.
They were called in shortly after 8AM and they were not too concerned walking back to the exam room with the dental assistant. Autumn walked back introducing herself and telling the assistant who this other girls dressed like her was. I don’t dress them alike too often but this morning it was just easier because we had to leave home so early.
Well about 45 minutes later they emerge from the back and they were all smiles and giggles and couldn’t wait to play in the playhouse again. My camera was almost dead and I couldn’t get a picture of them running to us to show us their loot.
The head dentist came out with them and he was smiles but I was worried because “the boss” came out with them.
Autumn announced what toys she got and ran off to the playhouse.. Haley followed suit. As Dr. Kelly approached I smiled and removed my ear buds and waited for the report…
NO CAVITIES!
Yes you heard it right.. NO CAVITIES!!! I guess mommy and daddy have been doing something right for a change.. :)
After paying the bill we had a difficult time removing Autumn from the playhouse.. you see their were more and different kids to play with now that their dental visit was over.
Once getting the girls all buckled in we proceeded to go to our next stop. The Supercenter WalMart! Yes you heard me.. we had to go to the Supercenter WalMart… why you ask??? To find some…
COUNTRY BOB’S!!!
If you haven’t tried it… Please do!! It’s yummy!! The girls love it and so do we! But unfortunately, no stores sell it locally so we have to either order online or drive a distance to get it. Just so happens that the Supercenters in State College carry some of their products.
After WalMart we went to find some food… we were all hungry!!
On the way home we made more stops in State College but the camera was near dead so only one more picture..
As we were driving to our next stop, Room Doctor, to pick-up a free step stool I had won back in May when Mike noticed this intersection..
.. and with a little photo editing..
LOL
Our last stop before going home was to the Nittany Valley Mall in State College to get a special treat for a most EXCELLENT dental report..
Remember.. NO CAVITIES!!!
:)
Haley picked this adorable frog and named it Skeevie (I think)..
Autumn picked this adorable giraffee and named it Melman..
Here is a picture of Autumn helping daddy put together mommy’s new FREE step stool..
What color should I paint it??
To end the full day of activities.. oh yea.. we went swimming too.. here is a picture daddy passed out on the couch..
Quick Needle Felting Tutorial
Okay I’m going to do a quick needle felting tutorial today..
I’m making a cardinal for Haley..
Supplies
Needle felting needles – I use size 38 and 36
needle felting surface (dense Styrofoam)
Core wool
Red wool
Orange wool
Black wool
plastic eyes and feet optional (I don’t have but might add later)
First step gather your supplies..
Needles and dense Styrofoam
Core Wool
Dyed Wool
.. the white wool pictured here WAS going to be for the eyes but Haley decided that she didn’t want eyes on her cardinal..
Next take the core wool and make the bird’s shape..
It does not have to be perfect because it will be covered later with the red wool but should roughly be the final shape you want it to be.
To do this take your 36 needle and repeated poke your wool until it starts to hold the shape.
The needles have prongs on the side that grab the wool and push it through but it slides back out easily..
Once you get the basic shape then it’s time to add the dyed wool..
Here is a better picture of the basic bird shape..
Keep adding until the bird is fully covered and add the cone.
After you get some detail work done to the body and cone add the black face and the beak. Use the 38 needle for detailing.
Once it’s ready to love..
and kiss..
:)
UPDATE
Later I was told I had to make a banana slug..
How did I do??
Lycoming County Fair
Yesterday we went to the Lycoming County Fair.
It was HOT and HUMID!
But we had a GREAT time!
Here are the pictures..
Here you can see how HUMID it was.. you can barely see the mountains in the background.. YUCKY sticky!!
Oh we took this picture because neither of us could see what the it said on the packaging.. we BOTH need to get eye exams.. been 3 years for me and probably 6 or more for Mike.
This picture is of a 4H exhibit that I really liked.
Waiting for our milk shake orders!
FINALLY enjoying our milk shakes!! YUMMM!
Haley riding the Rabbit Race.
Autumn and Daddy riding the spinning bear thing.
WOW.. Autumn wanted to go again..
This time with Mommy and Haley.. there was no extra spinning.
Autumn taking a picture with the pink Camera.
Daddy waving at us while we were spinning around in the HOT HOT HUMID bear ride.
Haley trying not to burn her mouth on a HOT dog.
Autumn trying to opne her water.
Daddy and Haley eating their hotdogs.
Oh that water looks soooo refreshing.. and it was!
Autumn is not much into rides so we was AMAZED when she went on this ride with Haley.
Haley’s new FAVORITE ride!!
She laughed and screamed the entire time!
Still laughing after riding it ALONE over 10 times!
Finally convinced Autumn to ride it a second time..
But the noises from the other rides, air release valves, made it impossible for Autumn to enjoy it. :(
But she stayed on the entire time.
Haley STILL enjoying the ride.. I think she rode this ride a total of 12 times!! Good thing ALL rides were free with admission!
Here are the pictures Autumn took.. and one that daddy took..
Autumn’s view of the house from her carseat.
Stopping to fill-up the gas tank.
Haley.. probably looking through her bag for some toys.
Lunch break.
Autumn’s dolphin she “won” and oh yea.. daddy.
Daddy taking a picture of Haley and mommy.
Last ride of the day.
