Finish It Friday… Fabric organizing turns into scarf making!

WELL I’m really continuing because this is an ever lasting battle for me.. hahaha..

So today I can across some fleece that I got for a project TWO years ago.. needless to say it never got done.. I decided it was time to do something with it or give it away… So I made scarfs for the girls.. I’ll get a picture of them and the scarfs later.. it’s too cold outside for them and their chest colds..

So here is what I did.. I got my fabric cut it to 5″ wide by the width of the fabric.. I had red and fun winter striped fabric.. The red fabric in the picture is actually 4″ wide because I didn’t have enough for the second scarf to be 5″ for both pieces. I think it’s actually much cuter than the first scarf.

scarf2Next I sewed down the middle and sewed down each side of the center stitching. Half inch is a good distance. I think next time I make this kind of scarf I’m going to use some  decorative stitching.

Oh yea.. I cut off the ends of the scarfs so that you don’t see the salvage ends.. I didn’t tie the thread.. trying to make this simple so to get it done.. :)

After clipping off the ends cut the sides to about 1/2″ to the stitching in 1/2″ to 3/4″ strips.. and you end up with a fluffy festive scarf!

Next on project list.. chef hat for daddy.. chili peppers AND mohawk fleece hat for when he plows the snow!

Tackle It Tuesday – Advent Calendar

Tackle It Tuesday

beforeToday’s Tackle It Tuesday is making an advent calendar for the girls. Well, I’ll be starting it today and hopefully have it completed by Monday!

How far do you think I can get today? Remember the twins are 3 1/2 years old and get into everything. Let’s take for instance this blog entry. I started it around 8am this morning.. and it’s currently 10:45am! HAHAHA

So that’s what?.. Almost 3 hours to write 2 very small paragraphs. HAHAhahaha.

Anyway, I saw the calendar on the SewMamaSew blog. It’s from the November 8th Deck the Halls blog entry. I probably should have started it then. HAHAHAHA :)

The fabric used is from Michael Miller, Funky Christmas collections and it’s just too cute not to try to make it and even better that I had all the fabric on hand for another project. I was going to make the girls a jumper with the fabric but it’s much cuter as a calendar.. well probably more simple too. :)

Well wish me luck and tell me how far along you think I’ll be at the end of the day.

UPDATES on Tackle It Tuesday

I finished the bags before lunch!!! WOW!!

That’s even with two little ones asking me for something every 40 seconds to 2 minutes.. YEEHAWWW.. nerve racking but they are done.. only one thing I wish I had been paying closer attention because the velcro is backwards on one of them.. but they are still functional!! :)

And the girls see like they know how to use it and will use it!
